How can i increase my endurance in basketball?

im a sophmore in high school. im a very explosive and versatile player and i have solid D. Everything is good except my endurance. i just shut down after a half game of 5 on 5. what are some ways i can push past that and increase my stamina and etc?? (also if you can give me some tips on how to make better passes and decisions and not turn the ball over that would be nice)

How can i increase my endurance in basketball?

Reply:do track
Reply:Ok im also a sophomore I play varisty basketball, and I to had a problem with endurance. Have you ever asked yourself ... "Are you in shape?" "Have you ever pushed yourself to the limit?".

So first increasing your edurance.

Well thats great that you have a lot of quick, and explosive movements which you need in basketball. It would be even better if you could do that for a whole game. So when your out on the court try to change speeds at certain times. What I mean is don't go 150 MPH the whole time your in there. Usually I work my butt off on defense then on offense I slow down the tempo (if we are ahead). This can help with turning the ball over less. But, you may want to work out on the track and just run. You can't expect to just go out in a game and hopefully run like a marithon runner overnight! So work on endurance by increasing how long/far your run each day or each week. So go to a gym regularly and get in shape.

In my opinion you could take the best athlete in the world to play, but if he or she isn't in shape they arent really worth anything. So work out regularly to get/ and stay in shape. Run Run Run....there is no easy way. It's going to be a long process, but be patient and all will work out. So what you do is start out probabaly striding 400 meters (1 lap around the track) do this four times. Thats it make sure they are long strides. Do this three days this week. Then next week increase it to 6 weeks. Another things it may help to get on arm wieghts to increase you strength just that you can have extra edge to finish a game.

ok now to not turn the ball over...

Learn to "anticipate". How I anticipate is when I see an opportunity. There are also potential opportunities. Usually I play the point guard position so I need the court awarness. Seeing the floor helps. When you dribble make sure you always C4 (see four of your teamates on the floor). Learn to handle the ball with both hands. Then when you pass it does'nt need to be a behind the back pass, or a pass between all five defenders to make it a good pass. A good pass is a basic pass that is crisp, and quick to your teamate. Give passes "on a silver platter" when i say that i mean make sure it's right to them almost like your giving it to them, make the pass an easy pass.

If your ever interested in any camps this summer I'd advise you to go to PGC (point guard college) this is my source I have learned a lot from the camp, and now I make better decisions on and off the court.

And if you ever want to ask me any questions you can reach my e-mail and angelgirl_tcs@yahoo.com . Or if you just want to talk on how to get better, or just to talk basketball go ahead and e-mail me.

Hopefully i have been some what of help hopefully you find what your looking for, thanks for your time for reading my answer(opinion) GOOD LUCK !!!! and GOD BLESS.
