Okay, it's the summer holidays, I can shape up!
What kind of exercises would you recommend, for someone of:
x. Medium strength
x. Low/medium flexibility
x. High speed ( a fast runner )
x. Medium stamina
How could I increase my flexibility, because I am a tall girl, and I'm not really skinny, a healthy average weight.
I also think it would be cool to be a cheerleader, but that's not the most important thing, because I'm a bit short for time, as I am going to be busy with school the year ahead...
So, some tips please? Much appreciated, ten points for the best answer, thank you to all those that answer x
How do I become a fitter girl?
im about the same as you with medium-high stamina and im pretty fast and all that....
i do crunches and pushups all the time...whenever youre watchin tv and theres a commercial just do 50 crunches or 25 pushups...also you said you wanted to become more flexible...i would do splits and stretches in front of the tv or if you have a laptop you could do splits and stretching while you check email or whatever...be careful not to expect that the first tiem you stretch a muscle youre going to be able to push it all the way...you could seriously injure yourself...just take it bit by bit and before you know it youll be much more flexible
also a good diet with the right amount of fruits and veggies and meats breads, yadda yadda yadda always helps
i also continuously throughout the year am playing sports...soccer year round, basketball in the spring/winter, volleyball and track for school. I used to do gymnastics but i found that i personally was not good at it so i just stopped and advanced in my other sports.
if you are a fast runner i reccomend track and field, do it with a friend, its very fun and you can get much faster and fitter through that easily..however i would not reccomend cheerleading, it can really ruin self confidence in a girl and hurt her ability to suceed i youve never done it and everyone else is so much better than you or because youre trying to get a guy by being one of the flirty little cheerleaders...plus it is a very dangerous sport and there are so many other sports that seem so much more fun and that will help you to get in shape too!!!
also just doing things around the house like jumprope or swimming if you have a pool can really help your endurance and your strength...swimming especiallyy because it works all the muscles in your body!!!
all in all just do your best to stay active everyday all the time...even just walking fast to wherever you are going in the mall or going somewhere can make a difference. hope i helped!!!
Reply:OK Vickie now all you need to do is if you have a gym close around go to it. My high school has a gym that any1 can go to it's open from 6am to 6pm. I go to it 3 times a week and work out from 10. am to 1pm. I watch what i eat and make sure that if I do eat alot that I do something afterword. Like walk my dog, walk with friends or go to a close beach and walk, ride a bike, swim, jump on a trampoline. Just anything to burn off some of the calories you just ate. In 6th grade I started to gain weight and then I started working out, walking, etc.

well, u could start by doing 100-200 stomach crunches a day, or as much as your stomach can take. remember, never over do it. this can help u get abs. i wouldnt reccommend sit ups because its the least effective adominal exercise and its bad for your neck and back.
you can join the gym and work out on their machines. arms and legs. cut down on junk food (even though its best not to eat any at all example, fast food) and stick to a healthy diet. dont eat too much carbs or starches. (etc, bread, pasta)
try doing yoga and stretches everyday for flexibility. take up dancing classes or join a sport. dancing is definitely one way to get you in shape, seriously, have you seen their bodies??? soo fit, lmao.
walking can also help a lot. in an article i read, they did a test on women and it showed that women who walk briskly a mile everyday lost about half an inch on their stomach for about 1-3 months or something like that.
jogging might be fine for the legs, but its bad as well, because it's not good for your knees. it can give you arthritis in the knees when you get older. so i guess you can jumprope for your legs and put that trampoline to use! (your so lucky you have one)
work out everyday and eat healthy. stick to a diet and try working out 1-2 hours everyday if you are really serious about getting fit
good luck!!!!!!
Reply:crunches, jumping rope, and jogging...thats all you need!
good luck =]
Reply:A routine of weightlifting.....3 days a week target each muscle group and for each excercise do 2 sets of an excercise where you can get the weight 10-12 reps(for good toning) I do 5-7 reps and 1-5 reps becuase I am working on building muscle(have gained 16 pds of mostly muscle in 22 wks doing that taking creatine NOX etreme, Apex Volumizer pills and eating 5500 calories a day...mostly protein vegetables and carbs). Also run bike and swim 2 days a week. After your workouts do every stretch you can think of for 10-20 min and hold your stretch for 5-10 seconds when you get as far as you can go. Im a workout guru so I know all of this stuff. If you want I can send you my workout program just add me to your contacts and send me a message...a stallion has to always stay in tope shape if you know what I mean:)
Reply:You should stretch before you do anything athletic to increase flexibility,
Reply:I am not an expert but I do know some about fitness.
Increase flexibility: I recommend you to do regular stretching. Static stretching of at least 20 counts each with controlled breathing will also keep you relaxed.
Stamina: Do some aerobics exercises like cycling, skating, swimming, jogging (at comfortable pace so it's relaxing instead of stressing you), or attend aerobics classes. These exercises are good for your heart too. Do it at least 3 times a week for at least 40 minutes each time.
Strength: You can go to the gym and use the equipments or just do with your own body weight. Like push-ups for your arms, steps for your legs and crunches/sit-ups for your abs.
Well, about being a cheerleader, I apologise as I have no experience or much knowledge on that. Anyway, hope the above suggestions help. Stay fit!!
Reply:Vicky, loads of really good advice here from everybody else, just wanted to add...Make sure you choose exercise that you enjoy, otherwise you won't keep it up and the benefits will be lost. You go girl!
Reply:Get some kick-boxing and pilates dvd's. They will be great for all-around improvement ... when you hit a plateau, pick up swimming and light weight-lifting and maybe find some longer work-out routines.
Reply:I came across this great product for weight loss and it was excellent for me. Together with a good diet and exercise I am finally happy with my body and the way I look. You should check this product at

Reply:I'm going to start Yoga after my holiday is over, why not try that for flexibility?
Reply:use your tampoline, jumping is great. I do pilates and love that. Its increased my flexibility and not to mention leaned me out. Stretching every morning get the blood running through your muscles which will also loosen you up. Cardio is key and your trampoline will provide that!
Reply:if u find a way to become flexible, please let me know!!
Reply:Eat 6 small but balanced meals per day. Your carbs should be high in fiber, your proteins should be lean, and your fats should be sparing but high in the omega 3 %26amp; 6 fatty acids. Avoid greasy foods, alcohol, and candy.
Lift weights or perform power yoga. These are resistance exercises which will increase your lean mass and burn extra calories 24 hours per day. Also, some cardio helps.
Here is a sample workout and some information about the science of stretching:

P.S. Power yoga is especially good because it increases both your strength and your flexibility.
