I can only run for 5 minutes before my legs feel like lead. How can I increase my stamina?

I weight train twice a week and do cardio for an hour 3 times a week. I'm trying to burn more fat by jogging. My breathing is controlled but my legs feel like they're ready to give out..

I can only run for 5 minutes before my legs feel like lead. How can I increase my stamina?
Slow down a little. Give your legs a chance to recover. When the leg pain is bad, just slow to a walk for a minute, then resume jogging.

You're feeling the accumulation of lactic acid in your leg muscles. As you keep jogging regularly, week after week, you'll train those muscles to metabolize the acid and clear it out more quickly. So you'll gradually be able to handle more and more jogging and a higher pace.

Just be patient. The training effect is inevitable when you stick with it.
Reply:You just have to slowly build up your running time. Maybe add a minute every other time you run. I had the same problem when I started running. You can do it!
Reply:try sitting excersises with weights on a machine. very light to start to get your legs used to pumping. the stress of the running could be affecting your legs. i used to work out only on my top half and my legs killed when i started training and running all the time. gradually they will get stronger, but don't over do it.
Reply:Just stick with it. The first weeks are tough, but you get through it and build stamina gradually. Also, run for a bit to warm up then do some stretching. This should get some of that 'lead' feeling out of your legs. Make sure you stretch after you finish running, or do any cardio, as well. That lead feeling usually isn't your legs tired, just tight.
Reply:You have too much body toxins. Go get some detoxification massage should help. Your muscles may be fusing together from the same reason. When your muscles is too strong and too tight, your muscle became shorter than your bone; massage, massage and massage! Source: www.energymassagecenter.com
Reply:Build it up slowly, first walk, then add some speed walking/ brisk walking...when you feel comfortable after awhile a bit of jogging and then running. That's why a lot of people give up easy because they want to start at the end and not the beginning. Also cycling might help you build your condition.
