Is jogging the best cardio for fat loss?

I had a baby 9 months ago and I am trying to bring sexy back. I have been doing cardio on the elliptical machine for 60 minutes a day. I have been losing weight but I have noticed that all of the girls that jog have hot bodies. I want to look like that. Is jogging better than what I am doing now? If so, how can I build my stamina? Because I tried to jog the other day and I could only go 1 minute and a half.

Is jogging the best cardio for fat loss?
Jogging is great for cardio, but then again so is using an elliptical, cycling, etc. One isn't really much better than another. In fact, jogging can be a bit hard on a person's joints from what I've read. It depends a bit on how fast you're going and how long you spend doing said activity though mainly. After all, the faster and longer you go in any cariovascular activity the more calories you'll burn. The girls that you see jogging that have great bodies are probably burning more calories running for the same amount you spend on the elliptical because they are going at a faster pace. You just have to work on your endurance. These girls might also be using weight-training or other exercise and very healthy eating in correlation with their running. You should consider adding these things to your daily routine as well.
Reply:No way eliptical is better..I got a shin split from too much jogging.. keep up what you are doing!..amaizing you can do 60 mins too

My personal trainer said one of the best machines is eliptical...but another great way to speed up your metabolism is to jog for 1 minute brisk walk for 1 minute ..jog for one walk for one...(on the tread mill)..

Good luck! and keep up the good work
Reply:Jogging is really great for losing fat. If you can only go a 1 1/2 minutes that is fine. Walk for 3-5 minutes to get your wind back %26amp; then run for another 1 1/2 min.... repeat. You'll be able to build up by doing this. It's a bit frustrating, but every little bit counts %26amp; before you know it you'll be running for longer %26amp; longer stretches of time. I would caution you to listen to your body, because running is hard on your joints, knees, back %26amp; so on... especially when you run on sidewalks or pavement.

Good luck, you'll get there!
Reply:Any activity like jogging or using an eliptical is great cardio. If you want to build stamina, just take it slow, and pace yourself. Jog for a little while and then walk, when you catch your breath jog again. It helps if you have an iPod or an mp3 player to keep your mind off of your aching muscles.
Reply:Maybe you are trying to go to fast to start with. take it slower. there are a lot of running programs on line I use one called smart coach at www.runnersworld.com. weather training for race or not it will slowly work you up at your pace.
Reply:The elliptical is great for cardio. As an ex-jogger, I'd suggest you stay onto things less jarring. We (meaning the medical profession, of which my dad and husband are part of) are finding that the hard jarring on concrete, or even grass is setting us all up for excessive joint wear and tear, especially knees and hips.... and now at 55 I am facing a hip replacement!!!!! Stay away from the hard pounding. Get back into your gym and use the butt buster, and other machines that target specific muscle groupings.... and keep the stress off of your four major joints....
