I would like to start training for a marathon.?

What is a good way to start? What kind of foods should I eat? I currently run about two miles a day. But would like to know what I can do to build stamina and strength to sustain myself in a marathon.

You're on the right road. For a marathon, you'll want to work up to 10 or 12 miles per training session. (Three or four training sessions a week. Three or four miles on the non-training days.) You're already running 2 miles a day. Tomorrow do 2 1/2 miles. Next week do 3 miles a day. Once you've done 4 miles a day for a week or so, start alternating between training days and non-training days. Your training days are your high mileage days. Your non-training days are your recovery days where you just jog for 3 or 4 miles to keep your lungs moving. On your training days you alternate between 1 continuous stretch of all the miles at once and breaking it down to two mile runs at a fast pace with 10 minute breaks in between. It is VERY important to stretch your muscles before you begin!
Reply:Run more, it's that easy...
Reply:Wow, my friend has the same goal. Try to find a trainer or an exercise-program if availabe. Eat protein and carbs and drink a lot, I think. Good luck.

I've found these sites, might help you. http://www.marathon-training.net/
