Why do you think the stigma is sticky?

1. Why do you think the stigma is sticky?

2. How many stamens do you see in your flower?

Why do you think the stigma is sticky?
The stigma is sticky so it can "trap" to pollen.

Most flowers have 6 stamens but a few have many more.
Reply:Stigmas are stick to attract bees, or any other pollinators. They are also stick so that pollen will stick to them and fertilize the eggs located below the stigma.

It really depends on the flower. For example, one flower may have only a couple stamens, but others could have hundreds. I have even heard of a flower that is either male or female, which is different than most flowers.
Reply:The stigma is sticky so pollen will stick to it as insects move in and out of the flower.
Reply:so the pollen sticks to it.
