What's the middle thing that sticks out of a Calla Lily called?

Neither one, it's called he spadix.

The colored foliage of the calla lily ( what most people assume is the "flower" - the trumpet shaped bit). is usually white or pastel colored. The outer colored leaves (trumpet) are known as spathes. The spadix - the middle thing or tapering yellow part - is the cone of actual tiny flowers.

Reply:Calla lilies are an inflorecence (many very, very tiny flowers grouped together) on the spadix- the part you asked about. The white petal-like part is called the spathe and is actually a modified leaf, not a petal.
Reply:...The "pistol"
Reply:It's called a "spadix."
