Help identifying a strange flower I found growing in my backyard?

I found this strange flower growing in my backyard I has a single stalk with 5 or 6 stalks coming out of the top of it in a star shape then they have red flowers with about 3 or 4 petals and very long stamens that kind of grow out and the up sort of like a cup shape, no leaves, it is about a 1' 5" tall. I know it is not a very good discription but I just don't know how to explain it. any help would be greatly appreciated

Could be a plant called 'Naked Ladies' or 'Ghost Lillies'. It is a type of amyrillis. The leaves come up in the spring, they look like Daffidill leaves. The leaves store the sunlight for energy, then a long stalk comes up with buds on it, usually in August.
Reply:That is a spider lily. I have one in my backyard also....

Have a great day...
Reply:Sounds like a daylilly.
Reply:Oh wow! I was reading your description trying to imagine about what it might be and then I saw the part where you found it -- so I googled it to see how they look!

WOW - those are really cool looking! I may have to get some of them.

Sorry this isn't actually an answer, but you found it already anyway...
