Reply:I have been running for 8 years now and would recommend for you the following:

I would strengthen the core: calves, quads, hams, back and abdominal (the "six pack" muscles along with the obleks), chest and arms. But when strengthening these muscles, I would focus more on the muscle endurance not the muscle bulk. For more advice for this, I would consult with a personal trainer. For the running part, I would stay flexible as it helps/contributes to your balance (so do the muscles in your core) but also helps prevent some injuries like pulled muscles and shin splints. Also, I would try to make up a schedule where you can run for X amount of days and try to have a long run. I would start off slowly, running about 2-3 miles per run for the first week and increase my mileage per week. Make sure you have the following: a good diet, hydration, sleep, a good sense on how to take care of your body, and sleep. Good Luck!!!
Reply:One thing about track is that nobody can get cut from the team. The best thing you can do is go into it with no expectations, and just build your stamina through the training that your coach gives you. Every year for the past three years someone on my team has come in with no running experience, and they end up running crazy times, and running for our varsity team. If you have natural athletic talent, and you think you can run, you probably will progress naturally through practice everyday.
Reply:You can stretch a lot and do at least 1 distance day a week; no shorter than 7 miles. You can also do strides to build legs muscles and stretch at the same time.
Reply:Be ready for some fun! Thats how to prepare yourself. But to strengthen your legs run(distance and sprints, but you dont need 7 miles...crazy), stretch, get enough water and protein, lift, and try swimming if you have a pool to go to. Swimming will give you a great workout without beating on your lower legs.
