im fairly athletic but i just suck at running. like idk if its my breathing pattern or what but after running the first quarter mile im pooped. my school wants us to do it under 8 30. how can i increase my speed, stamina, and endurance so i can pass the test?
How can i increase my endurance in running the mile? i have the test coming up at school this friday?
in this case people will tell you to start slow and work your way up but that is not the answer. running slowly will only biuld into your muscle memory and make you run as slow as you practiced when you are running the mile. you will want your legs to have it in thier muscle memory to run at the pace you want to finish them mile in. since you need to run the mile faster then 8;30 i suggest you start by finding a place that you know is 400 meters/ one fourth of a mile. find a pace that will make you run the 400 in 2 minutes. once you do that, then run at that pace as far as you can untill you start to slow down by a lot. now stop and rest for 8 minutes, then run 400 meters at that pace again so next time you run it you wont start at the slow pace you finished in. do this every day untill you reach the mile at that pace so that you will be able to get it in 8:00 minutes. dont forget to drink plenty of water before your workout so that you dont get cramps, and strech for ten minutes so that your legs dont become sore. good luck on the mile, i just hope that 5 days will be enough time to get good enough.
