Is doing cardio while trying to bulk up a bad idea?

I'm pretty new to weight lifting and I'm really trying to add some mass to my body. I know that a lot of people bulk up and then "cut" (lose fat they gained from bulking). But does adding a lot of cardio (mainly just a treadmill) make it harder to build muscle or interfere with it in any negative way? Because I really want to buld up stamina and I like to run for about an hour.

Is doing cardio while trying to bulk up a bad idea?
Yes, cardio like running defeats the purpose of attempting to bulk up. Wrestlers I know have a strict regimen to follow and one time they all tried running all the time with that, and it interfered and made them lose weight. Lots of protein, maybe SOME very light cardio, and lifting weights is the answer. When you lift weights and work out you get your body into shape to where it adapts to have more stamina anyway, so light cardio should do the trick, but not much.

Another tip, it's said that when lifting weights that it's much more effective to lift a 3 pound weight 15 times instead of a 15 pound weight 3 times. Quantity in sets is the way to go with weights that you can manage to lift a lot. Goodluck.

Doing cardio will not in any kind of way interfere in you building muscle. protien is actually what builds muscle, and anyway, having a well rounded fitness plan is never a bad thing.

now, if you just want to be big, don't do cardio, because that will burn fat. but you don't want that. you want cut, defined, big muscles!!

ps- swimming is also a great way to work out cardio and build muscle.
Reply:Hi,

I have been struggling for years trying to build muscle.

I have used every workout program out there, used stimulants,

you name it, I have done it. Finally I came across something

that actually works!

Reply:Yes, because cardio burns carbs, which are also used when gaining muscle, so when u use energy to do cardio theres less around to bulk up. But if ur eating enough then theres nothin wrong with it.
Reply:If you just want to be bulky then discard the cardio. But if you want to look more cut and have more definition in your muscles, then cardio can only help. It sounds like you already like doing it, might as well just stick with it. It will increase your stamina greatly, especially if you're going for an hour.
Reply:You must do cardio, man. You do not play professional football or body sculpt to parade around stage, so do not just bulk up. You need to do cardio because it is very good for personal health. Such as, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Plus you dont want to be that guy who can't hold their weight for more than 15 seconds. With cardio you take away all these risks. Furthermore, you need to realize lifting only takes you so far. What I am saying is, you need to eat right.

In summary, bulk up, but not too much. Increase endurance with cardio and circuit training in between regular lifting sessions. Like on an odd week or something. And eat right, which also goes hand in hand with the effects of cardio exercises.
Reply:One thing that will help you lose weight: diet pills. I was one of those who did not believe in them until I tried it. And I tried a few until I found a great one that works (its all natural too!). You can go to

http://get-diet-thin.us and order you free trial, also you only pay $4.95 shipping and handling. Good luck!
