Ive done Ice Skating for 5 months and Running for 4 years. i run for Eastleigh %26amp; Districs AC and i love sprint (100m speciality) but now its the cross country season and i hate it! i came first in my club (U13's) in our 1st cross country this year. but i want to do even BETTER! how can i get more stamina so i can do better in my cross countrys?
How do you get more stamina?
run harder, try running up and down hills, those work the best, jog down them slowly and sprint back up, im lucky to have a road that has alot of up and downs
Reply:the body adapts to what you do. So you'll have to condition yourself by running alot. if your body is accustomed to sprinting, then it has adapted to sprinting. you have to run longer distances so your body adapts to how, when and how much energy is stored for what you demand from it. so practice practice practice.
Reply:Stamina is usually considered your conditioning of the cardiovascular system.
The only way to improve it is to run long distance.
Meaning you need to run at least 3 miles 3 to 5 times each week.
To race you will need to do harder days or tempo, fartlek, and intervals.
If you are training with the cross country team you should be doing the things necessary to improve.
