Is it possible to have a 75 year old fit healthy male run a marathon?

I have never run long distances, but played soccer and icehocky until I was 40, swam regularly during the winter months, played tennis until I was 72 and now do exercises but not regularly. I weigh 187 LBS on a 5' 10" frame. My stamina is good and my need to do some exercise is constant.

Sure. It is a matter of steady incremental training. It might take a while before you feel like you are up for it. Train for a 5K jog/walk and see if you like it. Go slow so you body can adjust to the new pressures put on you knees and hips and feet. Many people complete a marathon by using a run/walk strategy. It is easier on the joints and still lets you reach your goal.
Reply:I"m not sure if you heard but there is this Irish man (i think he's irish) who is going to run Boston this year, it's going to take him 13 hours to do, so yes i think you can do it.
Reply:A man of 102 years completed the London Marathon last week!!
Reply:Any thing is possible.

Go for it!
