Is working on your stamina just as important as working on handles/shooting, etc?

I just started playing a year ago and I give a decent amount of practice to handles and shooting, but I find that when I play against other people I tend to get tired much faster than they do, then I can't concentrate and make a bunch of errors. I'm thinking I should start running 2 miles a day or something, what do you think?

yes indeed. stamina is a key thing in basketball. u gotta be able to play at a decent level for a long time. u gotta try to be playing at 100% the entire game. so u must find out what ur weakness is: running up and down the court, jumping, etc. There are many ways to increase stamina: the best would probably be swimming. it's considered the best cardiovascular exercise. Running is also great since it works ur legs and stamina.
Reply:That will help, but at what pace do you practice your shooting and dribbling. Pick up the pace when you practice those drills as well and it will also help to improve your stamina.
Reply:if you dont have stamina you cant show off your stuff because youll be too tired and out of breath, so yes stamina is very important in sports because it keeps you in the game and not on the side. jump roping and running 5 miles a day should do.
Reply:u answered ur own question, no?
Reply:stamina is important because if your in a game and your tired how r u gonna make a shot or dribble good ect.
