I am 25/m/155lbs/5'10" and strength train 3 times a week. I am also very active as a drummer about 4 times a week for 3 hours or better, my heart rate normally doubled during training/drumming. I normally eat 4 times a day plus snacks (higher in protien and carbs) and average about 6-7 hours of sleep a night. Is this enough? I am lean, only 9.8% bf last check. I don't feel bad, but feel that more rest would help with muscle building and stamina. Thoughts? Any reference material or ratios on activity level to required sleep? Thanks in advance.
How much sleep should I be getting?
you sound like a very physically and emotionally healthy person who is very in tune with your body... so it's simple:
if you're not feeling rested in the morning, you need more sleep at night... if you feel tired during the day... take a nap.
your body has a way of telling you what it needs to function... you get hungry, you eat... you gotta go to the bathroom, you go... same goes with sleep. a good way to gauge just how tired you are is if you have to sit in the sane spot for 20 minutes with no exciting stimulus (say you're listening to a boring speech) and you feel like falling asleep... you're probably not getting enough at night... if you can stay awake and alert during the boredom... you're probably fine.
good luck and happy napping
Reply:7 sounds like the perfect amount
Reply:8 hours
Reply:A person of your age needs about 6-8 hours of sleep a night. But everybody is different. Some people feel fine after only 4 hours some need 10. It all depends on your personal needs.
Reply:Under 30? 10 hours. Over 30? 8 hours.
