Regardless of position played does statistics and general common sense say Shaq was faster, has more ability all around, plays hurt more often than men like Oscar robinson, WiltChamberlain. Earl the pearl monroe, Clyde Frazier. Jerry West. Bill Russel, Michael Jordan, Willis Reed, etc. Give reasons who you think are the best. Include stamina and the ability to play hurt and lesadership.
I dont think Shaq Oneille is the best overall player. What do you think?
Is shacq a better player than these men regardless of position played?
You have got to be kidding me. I understand that Shaq is big and strong, but he is slow and lacking skills in many postions. He is shooting less than 50% at the free throw line, and maybe had a 60% on a good year in his prime. He can't dribble, shoot, or play defense up top. The only reason he is even "Shaq" is because he's big and strong, and can outmuscle is defenders.
Reply:I remembered when Jordan played Knicks back in the days and he had a flu (by TNT announcer). Jordan then dropped a nickel on dem fools, LOL! I have never seen anyone in this planet earth can come close to Jordans competitiveness. I admire those other players you've mentioned. But, for me. Jordan perfected the game of basketball...Thanks for the question!
Shaq was good, when he was with Lakers but I personally don't think he was as good as Wilt in his position...Shaq knows how to take advantage of his size...
Reply:Shaq definitely isn't better than MJ. one of his most glaring deficiencies is his poor free throw shooting. its hard to keep the big guy in games down the stretch just because he'll automatically get fouled and lose a game by missing free throws.
Shaq is definitely the most dominant. if you missed his games during his younger years and his prime, just watch Dwight Howard now. its like a replay of Shaq's younger years
Reply:I am in no way a Shaquille Oneal fan but here is something that separates him from most of the players mentioned above.
"He changes the way teams prepare and ruins a coaches preparation when he was younger"
Michael Jordan is the best player of all time but you don't have to double team him, you just put the best defender you have on the team and try to make him a volume shooter. i.e. make him score 40 by taking 30 shots.
Shaq when he was healthy requires constant double and triple team because no one in the nba can match the physicality he presents. Whe you double team, this frees up mediocre players who can shoot naming, Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott, Rick Fox, Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, Antoine Walker. Remember that in the NBA majority of the players can hit open shots.
In summation
BEST player of all-time: Michael Jordan
MOST dominant (all-time): Shaquille Oneal, Wilt Chamberlain
MOST talented (all-time): Kobe Bryant, Oscar Robertson
Futures
BEST player: Lebron James
MOST dominant: Dwight Howard
